Simplify the process before coding it
A good share of the requests that reach us describe a tool meant to reproduce a procedure that grew absurd through exceptions added year after year. Coding it as is means freezing the problem into software.
So we map it first, then propose a simplified version. Whatever disappears at that point will not be built, not maintained, and not explained to newcomers.
A clickable prototype before development
A navigable prototype costs a few days and saves weeks of misunderstanding. Your users click, make mistakes, say what is missing, all before a database exists.
It is also where scope gets fixed. What goes into version one is written down; the rest goes into a dated list, not into convenient forgetting.
What makes an internal tool last
Short documentation, clear permissions, exports to a spreadsheet, a change log. Those four points separate a tool still used in three years from a tool abandoned when its champion leaves.
We deliver them by default, even when they were not in the original request.
Pricing is handled subject by subject, with a short form and a written answer: Quote for a custom build. And to judge on evidence, we show what we run ourselves: our four in-house products.

Common questions about custom development
Would an off-the-shelf product not do?
Often it would, and we say so. Custom work is justified only when the need is genuinely unusual, or when the stack of subscriptions to several tools exceeds the cost of a build over three years.
How is the price set?
After scoping, against a written perimeter. We prefer a fixed price per increment to open ended time and materials: it forces us to estimate seriously and it protects you from drift.
Who hosts the application?
You do, under your own account. We configure the server and hand over the deployment scripts. If you would rather we ran hosting, that falls under the maintenance retainer.
